A lovely c section experience for a first-time mum
Just wanted to share our little boy’s birth story!
You might remember that he was a stubborn breech and we were booked in for a Caesarean section today.
I will hopefully get around to writing up a proper birth story, because it was such a fantastic experience for us in spite of being a middle of the night section and I 100% put that down to the GB. The short version is that on Thursday night I started getting regular mild cramps (6/7 mins apart). Honestly didn’t believe at all it was the start of anything but then I had a small amount of show so we figured we should head in due to breech just to make sure.
By the time we got to the Rotunda they were definitely minute long contractions about every 2 minutes apart so we knew then that bubs was on his way! We had to wait a couple of hours as they had someone else more urgent in need of section arrive just before us. The time flew, I thought we were waiting bout an hour turns out it was nearer 3! Had my headphones in and dim lighting and was super chilled! Then it was time to go – super excited on the way to the theatre, no nerves or apprehension at all. The staff were fantastic! So incredibly supportive and friendly. Hardly noticed them doing the spinal and, once it kicked in, I just felt like I was rocking away on a rowing boat for the whole section, mad I know but that’s exactly what it felt like! No uncomfortable pressure or tugging. Our baby boy was out in no time and our first skin to skin is a feeling I’ll never forget!
Anyway, that’s it in a nutshell! Just wanted to thank Tracy for everything and also to all of you who have me such support when we were trying to get bubs to flip.
